Sustainable Livelihoods: Papermaking with Invasive Species

It is imperative to include sustainable livelihoods in any conservation endeavor. ONE LANDSCAPE aims to promote economic well-being in local communities. Working with area artists and artisans, regional businesses, conservationists, and others, as well as with ONE LANDSCAPE’s international collective of scientists, entrepreneurs, and artists, we aim to promote economic well-being in local communities.

Collaborating with members of the Shinnecock Nation community of eastern Long Island and the expert papermaker, Susan Gosin, we conducted a workshop on papermaking with invasive species such as Phragmites. We will continue this collaboration to explore potential products and businesses using invasive species.
