Olana Dialogues
Hudson Valley, NY
2017
At Olana, the historic home and pastoral landscape of the Hudson River painter Frederic Church, we produced an event bringing Gordon’s bioacoustical recordings from Shillim to a larger audience and introducing Gee’s composition. The Olana event featured the premier of a collaborative work between artist Vicky Colombet, a founding member of the ONE LANDSCAPE collective, and dancer/choreographer Constantine Baecher—a preliminary mapping of the site in movement and visual forms.

Papermaking with Invasive Species
Shinnecock Indian Nation Territory
2019
Papermaking with Invasive Species Workshop, Shinnecock Indian Nation Territory – 2019. ONE LANDSCAPE collective members collaborated with members of the Shinnecock Nation and Dieu Donne, a non-profit organization dedicated to the art of papermaking, to collect phragmites and other invasive species on Shinnecock lands and use traditional paper-making methods to create paper that can be used by collective and Shinnecock artists.

Ephemeral Structures
The Shillim Institute
2019
We are developing a multi-faceted approach to designing ecologically sound and creative structures that can provide shelter in the landscape, as well as sites for our projects in the field, working sessions, gatherings, and performances. These structures range from semi-permanent – involving altered topography and new plantings – to temporary, with a minimal footprint on the land.

The first of these, Cocoon, was the result of a studio led by Barcelona-based architect Enric Ruiz-Geli at Shillim. Students from the Architectural Association in London spent two weeks on the site creating a cocoon-like lodging structure that also reoriented the pedestrian approach to the Shillim Institute. Nader Tehrani and Amin Tadj of NADAAA, architects and urban designers, are currently at work on designing a series of structures that respond to the different conditions and qualities of the Long Island landscapes.
